A dining chair made out of pine. With only mortise and tenon connections and a bit of glue to keep it as pure as possible.
The project that taught me how to use wood on a much deeper level and enjoy woodworking greatly.

In the second year at Design Academy Eindhoven we had basic courses that taught you all essential information about specific materials. I chose the wood course, which focussed on making a chair. 

After having theoretical lessons about strength, connections and everything else wood we started designing our chair.

First with balsa wood we created multiple 1:5 scale chairs. After multiple iterations and improvements, I made a cardboard mock-up in the correct scale. That helped visualizing what worked and what didn’t. Further I made a technical drawing and 3d model to help me in the making process.
